Gossip Girl ... Going, Going, GONE!!!

Monday's are dead to me. Gossip Girl ended tonight and I had my fingers (and toes) crossed that it wasn't really so. Going, going, gone ... really gone!?! Say it ain't so.
Has it REALLY been SIX years!?! I started watching GG right when I finished college.
I felt "too old" to watch, but I did read the books in my childhood ... so I couldn't help myself.
I'm still shocked its ALL over. What a whirlwind and it was TOO much fun!!!
What next ... Monday Night Football!?! I guess I owe my husband after six years of GG ...

The episodes might have ended, but who is to say TCSK posts must ...
PSS: Blair has been my Halloween-inspiration for YEARS ...
how will I ever pick out another 'ween outfit!?!?!

The Color Purple

WHEN WE
SHARE LOVE.
FULL COMPANY
LIKE A BLADE OF CORN,
LIKE A HONEYBEE,
LIKE A WATERFALL,
ALL A PART OF ME.
LIKE THE COLOR PURPLE,
WHERE DO IT COME FROM?
NOW MY EYES ARE OPEN,
LOOK WHAT GOD HAS DONE

My law school bestie invited me to the play The Color Purple and what a treat!
I was beyond impressed with the talent --- especially the local talent.
What a moving story --- it's a must see and read.

The Iron Lady

I'm behind.
Behind on blogging ...
Behind on my honey do list ...
Behind on must-read books ...
And very behind on must-see movies.
The Iron Lady is no exception.
I watched it last night with my husband and in-laws. I just loooved it. I'm completely guilty of snoozing during borrrring movies and this one had zero zzzzs about it. Here are a few of my favorite movie quotes:
"Don't follow the crowd. Make your own way."
"I don't intend to die washing a teacup."
"A person's life has to mean something."
"Never compromise."
"Economics is just like managing your household."
My favorite: "The pearls are nonnegotiable."
Dish: did you see it and enjoy!?! What else is a must-see ... I'll add it to my list!!! Xoxo-BLC

Say It Ain't So

I have to gush about my husband: he is just the best. He is the best for MANY reasons. One teeny tiny reason: he let's me watch Bravo and doesn't even complain. And he even sometimes watches with me (and by watching I mean stays in the same room). I've recently become a HUGE fan of Pregnant in Heels. I think Rosie Pope is beyond funny and whimsical.
While watching the above-episode, my husband had a fit: we have had the exact same conversation. Him: "You talk funny and, the combo with your accent, it's hard for people to get every word." Welll ... I do have a high voice, I talk fast, and I have a Southern accent. But not squeaky high. And like keep up people. And I do live in dixie so Southern works. Well, with my line of work and to never ever hear someone say "can you repeat that!?!" I might follow the stylish Rosie all the way to speech lessons. She could teach me how to say "cheeriooo" and I for her "say it ain't so"!!! Xoxo-BLC

I think red carpet affairs are just the best!!!
My best-dress-award goes to ... Jessica Chastain of The Help.
She was a vision in that Alexander McQueen gown.

Meet Me in Monte Carlo

This past summer, I lived under rock while studying for the bar exam. However, I did keep up with your blogs (I always read even if I am terrrrible at leaving comments), and I felt as though the summer blockbusters were the best-ever-girls-only-flicks. It probably had more to do with my no-fun-policy than anything else, but I was beyond delighted when Glitterista added the preview for Monte Carlo ...
I am a huge fan of Leighton Meester: from her style to her character Blair on Gossip Girl to her songs to her movies. Now that I am free to have as much fun as I want, I recently saw this movie and I might-have-sort-of-did squeal like a teenager through the entire movie. It was really too cute for words!!! Many thanks to Glitterista for sharing it first and let's meet in Monte Carlo, shall we!?! Xoxo-BLC

Totally Swept Away

I have recently been cheating on my regulars: RedBox, Blockbuster, and iTunes. I am having a love affair with HBO To Go. I have watched documentaries, shows, and movies that I wouldn't normally pick. One of those:
Swept Away. I almost stopped watching it five minutes in because the cursing is near unbearable and Madonna's character is 100% insufferable. Yet, I was totally sucked in, swept away, and unable to stop. The movie is shot somewhere between the Italy and Greek coastlines. The scenery alone is absolutely breathtaking and worth the watch. Madonna is my new thinspiration: her 40-something-bod is sick. Half of the movie is in subtitles and the other half English. The storeline totally stole my ♥!!! And so, Swept Away swept me away. O!

After 25 ah-mazing years, The Oprah Show ends today … gasp!!! We can thank Mattie for 5 extra years ...
I agree with Mattie 100%. Isn't their friendship just precious!?! Mattie, his mother, his whole story, all of it is beyond touching, like so many of her guests. I admire and respect Oprah a ton. She does LOADS and LOADS of good. I may not always be on the same page as Oprah, but I have always found her most entertaining. I have a teeny weeny confession: when I was a senior at Clemson, I planned my entire class schedule around Oprah. It’s true!!! Haha!!! I haven’t been as faithful in recent years, I wouldn't dare miss her farewell show. The last 25 years have been ah-mazing and I am certain the next 25 will be too. Wishing Oprah those bright colors and rejuvenation just as Mattie wished her many moons ago!!! Xoxo-BLC

Film Festival

Many thanks to Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore for tagging me in her "Five Favorite Flicks" post. I had such a tough time narrowing it down!!! I like sooo many movies, but each one has one commonality: a good story line. Without further ado, here are my most favorite movies:
3. Husband Approved: Traffic, Italian Job, and Crash
4. True Story: Fly Away Home
I know the rules were just to list my five favorite movies, but as Katharine Hepburn once said, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." I do refuse to break this game of tag, sooo I want to know what mooovies make my real-life friends favorite-list!!! I tag: Beantown Prepster, Bottomless Kitchen, Lola's Journey To and From, Loving Being a Nonny, Matt, Megan and Luke, Muffy MartiniRecipes from Newlyweds, and The Sweet Southern Life. All this movie talk has me craving popcorn!!! Pop, pop, pop. Xoxo-BLC

Voguish Mockumentary

You read the book: The Devil Wears Prada. You watched the movie: again, The Devil Wears Prada. But have you seen the documentary: The September Issue??? Yes, September in March means I am fashionably late. The ice queen wasn't that icy and Grace Coddington warmed up the documentary by making it HAUTE! She is the reason I loooooooooove Vogue. This is a MUST see documentary. For the love of fashion, for the love of Grace. Xoxo-BLC

Amp the Vamp

Popsy, a dear friend, told me Twilight was "the most romantic love story of all time." I kid you not. I asked her if she had ever read/watched Gone with the Wind. Anyhoo, we saw the movie and she tossed the book my way before the holiday. And OMG. The movie was fantastic, the book was remarkable, and I am officially on the bandwagon. All thanks to Popsy! Pullleaze tell me you are vamping it up too! Xoxo-BLC
