If you followed me on twitter ... here were the hints:
Hint #1: The weekend getaway is in my favorite state!!! And it's not where @ashmlondon is jetsetting --- I miss you AML!!! My favorite state is North Carolina! AML was California-bound. Hint #2: We are going coastal!!! And by coastal I meant the Neuse River.
Hint #3: Nicholas Sparks wrote about this charming town in one of his books. Did you read At First Sight or True Believer? Nicholas Sparks grew up and still resides here. Hint #4: This is the homeplace of Pepsi-Cola ... @MuffyMartini's favorite drink! Last hint and I will spill the beans tomorrow. And we drank Coke the whole time! Shame on us!!! @PreppyBumpkin guessed right! Our weekend away was in New Bern, North Carolina. Mamatella and I had the best time on our extended weekend getaway to the coast. My grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, and cousins kept us in good company throughout our mini-vaca. Until next time!!! Xoxo-BLC
Amy Allen, author of This Little Piggy Went to Prada, got the big D and wroteThis Little Piggy Got Divorced. I expect it to be lighthearted but bitter and bold. And we all know the BEST revenge is being better than before. Count me for helping Amy get her revenge with this soon-to-be BESTseller!!! Xoxo-BLC
If I could PEN{nsylvania}CIL this event in my calendar on Thursday, I would!!! Lilly Pulitzer + Team Challenge + Beth Dunn = Fun fun fun for all. This trio is hosting a shop, support, and sign event. Shop Lilly Pulitzer. Support Team Challenge. Sign Social Climbers. What could be better!? Team Challenge trains runners or walkers to complete a half-marathon while fundraising to find a cure for ulcerative colitis and Crohon's disease. So go on, show the trio some sisterly-love and PENCIL in shopping, supporting, and signing this Thursday!!! Xoxo-BLC
PS: Today is my sissy Elsie's birthday --- I hope you have the BEST birthday Eeee!!! I love you and miss you. :)
My two favorite memories of my grandmother involve cake and lipstick. What could be better!??? As a child, I remember my parents traveling a good bit for work and my grandmother looking after me. My grandmother would always bake a cake. Then we would nibble on the cake breakfast, lunch, and dinner!!! As a child, eating cake for breakfast was better than a day off from school. And playing hookie from school wasn't an option when Grammie was in town! Before dropping me off at the schoolhouse, my grandmother would always put a dab of lipstick on me then gloss her own lips. I never saw her bare lips because she always wore a fabulous color of Revlon lipstick. And, in a pinch, she used that same lipstick on her cheeks. I use to think of Revlon lipstick as "old lady red lipstick" but today I wear the same on my lips (and sometimes my cheeks too!). Revlon's "Hot Coral" and "Lilac Champagne" are always within my reach. I know she is getting older and frailer, but my memory of her will forever be timeless: she is stylish, graceful, and whimsical. When I eat cake or wear lipstick, I think of her. Thanks for letting me be your "baby angel" Grammie!!!! I love you and I miss you. See you next week! Xoxo-BLC
Happy National Day of Prayer to you and yours! What are you praying about!? This is my prayer today:
"Attempt something so impossible that if God weren't in it, it would be doomed to fail."
Do you keep an inspiration notebook?! I do. I use the Lilly Pulitzer mini notebook to jot down my thoughts and prayers. Most words of wisdom come from Bible Study or Sunday sermons. However, I do write down funnies too. For example:
Q: How often do you rotate your tires?
A: Every time I drive. They go round and round and round.
Tee hee. See, my notebook made a funny!!! I highly recommend an inspiration notebook. And, Lifeguard Press has some skinny ones so you don't have to break you back toting it around waiting for inspiration to strike! Cheers to leading a colorful life full of inspiration. Remember to pray today! Xoxo-BLC
You voted and the verdict is .... out with the old and in with the new:
After oodles and oooldes of HTML tinkering, I performed major surgery on TCSK!!! She needed a little facelift after year and half with the old. I am extremely proud of the results. And, TCSK + Twitter + Storefront all happen to match. I love matchie-matchie! Hehe. Enough tooting my own horn already. Many thanks for bearing with the cccchanges and I truly appreciate your readership!!! Xoxo-BLC
Well, I recently slipped on this pair of jellys by Jimmy Choo ...
and I quickly returned to those endless summer days with grass stained knees from catching fireflies. I only tried the pair on for "research" because my next read is going to be "Shoo, Jimmy Choo!" by Catey Hill. The subtext is "the modern girl's guide to spending less and saving more" but I think it should be "the modern girl's guide to spending less and saving more while wearingjellys by Jimmy Choo." Don't you!? Hehe. Clearly I have not started the book yet! Xoxo-BLC
Coffee makes me really happy. Like really happy. I take my coffee the same color as my skin. Darker in the summer, lighter in the winter. Right now, I take my coffee (better known as fairy pee) with ...
one packet of false sugar and one tablespoon of creamer served in a super duper cute cup. I bounce between old faithful: "I am not a paper cup,"
and
flirty fun: Pandamonium thermal mug. It just makes coffee taste better! Don't you agree? What coffee cup do you sport? Java cheers to you and yours. Xoxo-BLC
I am on the hunt ...
For a vintage Lilly shift!!!
Do you have one?
Make me green ...
with envy and share a hint.
Where do I start looking!?
Off to frock hunt!
Xoxo-BLC
Many thanks toPink Preppy Lilly Loverfor hosting such a fun fun fun giveaway!!! I was so happy to win this Lilly Pulitzer tote bag I think I turned orange! Ha!!! I am very much looking forward to sporting this tote ALL summer, whether at the beach or around town. And, I think it is the perrrrfect accessory to cheer on the CLEMSON TIGERS at the fall football games!!! Don't you!? A big big big thanks to Trish and cheers to squeezing the orange juice out of life! Xoxo-BLC
Many thanks Mamatella for the picture --- and the temptation. Those pink pots and green leaves are calling my name! "BLC, BLC ..." See, you hear it too! Xoxo-BLC
As we head back to reality and I wrap up my second year of law school,
I am wondering ...
Would a Murfee Scarf help me study harder, longer, better for finals? Does watching Law & Order, The Good Wife, and Legally Blonde count as studying? Yes and yessss! I might add a little old-fashioned library quality time in there too. Cheers wrapping up! Xoxo-BLC
Horsing around at Steeplechase! It rained horsies and jockies allll day long.
While wellies were the favored accessory to fight the rain, derby hats were still a must. I loathe hat hair but I remembered a certain darrrrling flower headband from last year. So instead of a derby hat, I sported a flower clip made by Polka Dots & Protein Bars of Hems & Hers! Many many many thanks PD&PB!!! We enjoyed the races from inside the tent this year --- sipping cocktails and cheering on our favorite horses. Cheers to horsing around with great company --- rain or shine!!! Xoxo-BLC
Urgent! According to Mary Phillips, go green or else ... no chocolate!!! Gasp! What are you doing to go green? I adopted LP's motto: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cheers to a better and greener tomorrow. Happy Earth Day to you and yours! Xoxo-BLC
Time flies when you're having fun! Posting about my agenda in April means I have been having a lot of fun in 2010!!! Ha! When a bff gifted me this planner in September of 2009, I didn't think 2010 could come quick enough. I carry this organizer everywhere I go! The agenda is tabulated for 2010 & 2011 at a glance, dates to celebrate, holidays and contacts, months at a glance, and then each month individually. It even has stickers and "reasons for a party" --- as if I needed any help in that area!!! Go on and get organized with your own Time Flies Agenda from Lifeguard Press. It's even on sale! Calendar cheers to you and yours!! Xoxo-BLC
A leisure Sunday!? Just what the doctor ordered. We strolled down Piedmont Park Avenue and window shopped at the Dogwood Festival. Most enjoyable! Cheers!!! Xoxo-BLC
Our favorite native Atlantalite, Paparazzi, hosted us in his hometown, Atlanta, Georgia! We had the best weekend getaway.
While the boys cheered on their respective teams at the Clemson v. Georgia Tech game, the girls visited the exhibit celebrating the life and work of Princess Diana! From her wardrobe to her impact on the world, her life was totally remarkable and truly colorful. Thereafter, we sipped cocktails before eating at Veni Vidi Vici. What a superb day!!! I hope you enjoyed your Saturday too. Xoxo-BLC
If you had a New York minute today, what would you do!? I would be wearing this dress (click here) to the American Museum of Natural History's Spring Safari Gala!!! It is the party of Spring. Dining in the Hall of African Mammals coupled with cocktails and dancing in the Hall of Ocean Life, what could be better!? Oh la la! I cannot wait to hear the full report from blog-bff CJM!! New York Minute cheers to you and yours! Xoxo-BLC
I adore Via Shops. I want to visit them all. Each is fun, flirty, and tres colorful. I have two friends who own Lilly Via Shops: Pink Boulevard and Pink on Main!
Both of these girlies are living the dream and absolutely L-O-V-E their job!!! And Lilly Pulitzer is looking to open a few more Via Shops.
Are you tempted like me!???
Don't worry mom and dad, I am NOT dropping out of law school. Practicing law is living the dream for me! Or being White House Social Secretary.
Hey, a girl can dream! Speaking of dreams, what is your dream job!? Cheers to living the dream and big-girl dream jobs! Xoxo-BLC
... in the Lilly Pulitzer cruiser! With flip-flop friendly pedals this ride is perfect "at beaches, around town, along boardwalks, to farmer's markets, to wherever your stylish life takes you." So, do share, where would you pedal to the medal in your colorful life!? Xoxo-BLC
Neiman Marcus squashed the rumor that this chocolate chip cookie recipe cost a mini-fortune and even encourages spreading the news! Go on, bake and share!!! Yields 24 chocolatie delish cookies. Nmmm! Xoxo-BLC
Today our sweet friends married at the gorgeous Middleton Plantation in Summerville, South Carolina.
The pair met at the Clemson v. Georgia game in 2003. He attended CU and she UGA. In the homily, the minister mentioned it being serendipity because CU and UGA don't play again until 2013!
I couldn't agree more.
We had a blast celebrating their love, laughter, and happily ever after!!!!! Xoxo-BLC
Circa 2008, Daddy and stepmadre took the family on a trip out west to celebrate Lala's birthday. We nested in Las Vegas, Nevada and it just so happened my favorite LA bff was also in Sin City! Of course we met up and had a riot of a time (evidence in the picture left)!!! Well, fast forward to now --- and guess who just happened to be in Charleston, South Carolina this weekend for a different wedding? Yessss! Of course we had an absolute ball (again, evidence in the picture below). Aren't surprise encounters just so much fun!?? Xoxo-BLC
Has. Arrived. Start your engines ... Wedding season is here. Are you jumping for joy like me!? What frock will you wear? Guest? Maid? Bride!? Cheers to going to the chapel! Xoxo-BLC
After reading this month's issue of Town & Country, I caught the travel-bug!!! I am itching to go ... anywhere!!! The best article featured delish locals such as: The Cloister at Sea Island, Georgia; Four Seasons Resort at Peninsula Papagayo, Costa Rica; The Resort at Paws Up, Montana; The White Elephant Hotel on Nantucket; Snowmass, Colorado; and, of course, The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida! I have LILLY and will TRAVEL!!! Do you feel the itch too? Xoxo-BLC
Lilly Pulitzer must have been a Devils fan based on her motto, "Treat a duke like a dustman and a dustman like a duke." Don't you think!? Hehe. Well, the NCAA Tourney was tempted by the Devils and the Devils won!!! Cheers to being national champs!!! Goooo Duke gooo!!! Xoxo-BLC
Happy April Fool's Day! Remember, as a rule of thumb, trust no one today. Those tricksters are out to get you ... or are YOU being the joker today?! My book of favorites include whoopee cushions, short sheeting beds, saran wrapping the toilie, or announcing pregger news on facebook. You know you want to play a little prankie prank. Be sure to dish if so, but pity the fools. Cheers to making funnies!! Xoxo-BLC
