Bye, Bye For Now

Is anyone even out there anymore!?! This little public service announcement is just to say "bye, bye for now." This is not a break up. I will be back down the road. You can still catch me on Instagram as thecompanyshekeeps. Instagram has taken over my need to blog. I love love love this little slice of web. It has been such a fun, creative outlet for me. And much needed. I also love being able to look back over the last SEVEN years and seeing exactly what we were doing and where my heart was at that moment. We have been through a ton: starting law school, getting married, traveling like mad, getting a big-girl-attorney job, buying our first home, adopting Stewart, having baby girl Squeak, and so so so much more. I am at a point in my life where life is so much fun, but too busy. I want to spend every free second with my mister, Squeak, and Stewart. I will just be documenting all that fun on Instagram. Once life settles and slows down, I plan to come back to The Company She Keeps. Just probably not this year. I am moving all the clutter out of my life, having a me-year, and minimizing my to-do list. My blog-to-do list includes posts as far back as Easter 2014. Woof! Now I will have even more time to read your sweet blogs. So, this is just ta-ta for now ... until we meet again!!! Xoxo-BLC

Ben Folds Five

I looove this song by Ben Folds Five. Murphy's New Law and I were discussing this song not too long ago. While it's not a lullaby, we decided it is still super sweet.
My dad is pretty hip when it comes to music, but he hadn't heard this one. After we listened to it, he looked up the meaning and found that it was the girlfriend Ben always had to explain. Don't we all have someone like that in our lives!?! Xoxo-BLC

Today

Light of the world, hope for all man,
You never let me down.
I can't believe You call me your friend.

It's turned my whole life around.
But still it's hard to let go of the wheel,

no one ever showed me how.
Maybe this time You can take the lead,
and I won't try to pull

You by the sleeve.
Because every time I think that I know better I lose my way, so God,

What You wanna do Today?
You are the King of Heaven and Earth,

All of creation bows.
I give you my heart for all that it's worth.
I'm at Your service now.

But I always wanna guess just what You need,
trying to honor my vow.
Maybe this time You can take the lead,
and I won't try to pull You by the sleeve.
Because every time I think that I know better I lose my way,
so God, what You wanna do Today?
Maybe we will, spend the hours just being still,
and knowing You are God. You are God.
Oh every time I think that I know better I lose my way,
don't let me lose my way.
Maybe this time You can take the lead,
and I won't try to pull

You by the sleeve.
Because every time I think that I know better I lose my way, so God,
What You wanna do Today?

This is my most favorite song of the moment. It's by NewWorldSon and you must hear it on the radio, download it in iTunes, and/or watch it on YouTube ... then tell me what YOU think!!! Xoxo-BLC

The Company We Keep

I may or may not have a blog alert out for "The Company She Keeps" and it may or may not come up with the funniest gossip most times. But this time it may have led me to the band "The Company We Keep."

I was blown away by this band. Amy has an ah-mazing voice and the whole group has this great dynamic. And they must be doing pretty well ... an alert popped up from MTV which is the big times. Best wishes to The Company We Keep and thanks for letting me keep company!!! Xoxo-BLC

I Pray On Christmas

I pray on Christmas
That the Lord will see me through
I pray on Christmas
He'll show me what to do

I pray on Christmas
He'll help me understand
And I pray on Christmas
He'll take me by the hand

I pray on Christmas
That the sick will soon be strong
I pray on Christmas
The Lord will hear my song

I pray on Christmas
That God will lead the way
And I pray on Christmas
He'll get me through another day

I pray on Christmas
I pray on Christmas
I pray on Christmas
He'll get me through another day

I pray on Christmas
All our problems gonna be worked out
I pray on Christmas
God'll show us what love's about

I pray on Christmas
To do your will each day
And I pray on Christmas
That I'll be with you in heaven some day

I pray on Christmas
Oh, the sick will soon be strong
I pray on Christmas
The Lord will hear my song

I pray on Christmas
That God will lead the way
And I pray I really pray on Christmas
He'll get me through another day
He'll get me through another day...

I'm not BIG on Christmas music, but "I Pray On Christmas" has been my favorite Christmas song this year. Every time I hear it on the radio, I turn it up and sign along. My all time favorite is still Jimmy Buffett's "Mele Kalikimaki." Do share: what is your favorite Christmas music!?! Xoxo-BLC

If I Die Young

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Uh oh, uh oh

Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
Ain't even grey, but she buries her baby

The sharp knife of a short life, well
I've had, just enough time

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
I've had just enough time

And I'll be wearing white when I come into Your Kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger,
I've never known the loving of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holdin' my hand
there's a boy here in town says that he'll love me forever
Whoever thought forever could be severed by

The sharp knife of a short life oh Well,
I've had just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
what I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts,
Oh no,
I'll sell em' for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
and maybe then you'll hear the words I've been singing
funny when you're dead how people start listenin'

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a, bed of roses
Sink me in the river, at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song

Uh oh (uh, oh)
The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you're really gonna need 'em, oh

The sharp knife of a short life, oh well
I've had just enough time

So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls

I just love this song "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry for so many reasons. One of which, I believe the same as Kimberly Perry said about this song: "We really have gotten to live and love at our young ages. 'If I Die Young,' for us, is about if it all ends at this moment, look at what we've gotten to do. Whatever time we're given will be absolutely enough as long as we make the most of it." I am certain of my salvation in Jesus and I believe heaven is better than paradise. I am looking forward to seeing my loved ones, here and there, all together again in the presence of God. Regardless of when I die, don't fret or be sad: I have lived a colorful, happy, fun-filled, and fulfilling life that was more than enough!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: A very big congratulations to The Band Perry for winning best new artist, single of the year, and song of the year at the County Music Awards!!! You deserve it and so much more.

Justice of the Peace

My freshman year of college, Justice of the Peace by Ryan Long was my favorite song by far. I heard Ryan Long play at the college weekend in Windy Gap and his music is just wonderful.

Got your message on the answering machine,
You said you'd be late again-
But what does that mean?
It means im lonely- after all,
So ill be waiting here in case you call.
I guess our telephone ain't gonna ring,
I found a note he wrote,
It says he heard you sing.
So I guess your out with him,
Whats a marriage mean to you?
Do you wear you diamond ring when you lay down?

Oh-oh-oh,
You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed.

I didn't sleep last night- waitin' by the window,
Now the mornings come with night time glow.
You told me where you were
I said you lie,
Don't you even wanna try?
I take that ring back cause you dont wanna be my wife.

Oh oh-oh-oh,
You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed.
You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed.

Do you know girl,
Bout the justice of the peace,
Is gotta bring one of us to our knees.
So I'll go down you can come back home even though,
I know your gonna keep runnin' round.

You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed.
You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed.
You drop your dress,
You turn your head,
You hold him when I sleep at home alone in our bed

It's a Christian song about how we sin again and again. Yet Jesus forgives us and went to the Justice of the Peace, God, and paid for our sins. I had never thought about cheating in a marriage being so similar to sinning against God. It means even more now being married. I am beyond thankful for my salvation. Xoxo-BLC

Love & Theft

I think this is just wild: Olive My Life, Polka Dots & Protein Bars, and I attended high school with Eric from Love & Theft. I remember the first time I heard their song on the radio. I was clerking this summer, riding in the car with an attorney, and I flipped out (think-pre-teen-boy-crush-squeals). Totally professional. Anyhoo, I am so proud of Eric and the band. Cheers to Love & Theft for making the BIG TIME! Xoxo-BLC

PS: Oh, and another thing ... one of the back up guitarists from the Jimmy Fallon performance is playing at our wedding!! :)

One x 16

One choice
One tree
One fall for humanity
One lie
One liar
One bite is all death required
One great regret
One squandered chance, and yet
One hope
One day
One name above all other names
One bridge between then and now
One way to discover how
One price
One tree
One drop of crimson covers me
