Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving Day! It is time to give thanks and be glad it in. I am thankful for a healthy family, entertaining friends, and good times. Our family celebration requires tryptophan hangovers and breaking out the fat pants. I had my cake (and turkey, and pie, and stuffing) and ate it too!! Time to run in a Turkey Trot, watch the Macy's Parade, and, of course eat, drink, and be merry. Enjoy! Xoxo-BLC

Happy Blogiversary to TCSK! This blog doesn't look at day over one-year-old, does it!? Advice Amy encouraged me to start this blog ... and if Lilly Pulitzer had a blog, I wanted one too!!! I have posted everyday for a year and oh la la has it be fun fun fun. I cherish the friends I have made here at TCSK and I thoroughly enjoy my tiny slice of the blogosphere. Chin chin to the past year and many more to come. Xoxo-BLC

Fairy Pee

I like my coffee the color of my skin. Darker in the summer, sweeter in the winter. The critics say this about my coffee habit: Critic #1: Ale. His coffee: army black (eww). His opinion: It's not coffee, it's coffee flavored creamer. Critic #2: Daddy. His coffee: black with one pack of sugar. His opinion: FAIRY PEE! Hehe, how do you take your coffee?? :) Xoxo-BLC

Every Woman

The talented LP design director for print and pattern, Janie Schoenborn, eloquently described the ultimate Lilly Pulitzer woman: "She is confident and loves color. She is independent and loves to stand out in her Lilly. She has style and is really chic. It's the woman you want to sit next to at a dinner party." What describeds the kind of woman you want to be? Shoe Tree

"I had a little shoe tree, nothing would bear
But Manolo Blahniks and vintage Taittinger
The Queen of Style, Ms. Wintour, came to see me
And wrote a piece in Vogue about my shoe tree."
Excerpt from This Little Piggy Went to Prada by Amy Allen

I just added this divine pair of Badgley Mischka's to my shoe tree! Can we say w-e-d-d-i-n-g s-h-o-e-s! These beauties were made to strut down the aisle. Off to practice my wobble ... I mean walk! Xoxo-BLC

Fling with Earrings

My dear friend Ash is remarkable. My favorite story I tell on her all the time goes like this. After college, she jetted off to Africa to volunteer. I had always described her as the friend who would give me the shirt off her back. And, I still do (because she still would). When it was time for Ash to return to the States, she left everything she had brought with her in Africa. And I mean everything. She truly has a heart of gold. Anyhoo, I am so excited to support her new venture ... jewelry making! She is in jewelry school and sells her beautiful pieces HERE. I wear THESE earrings alllll the time. They are lightweight and just gorgie!!! Best of luck Ash ... I can't wait to say: I knew you way back when! Xoxo-BLC

A Spoonful of Sugar

Many thanks to the sweet Tales of an All American Girl, Completely Preppy, and Short Southern Momma for the Sugar Doll Award!!! The rules: list 10 interesting things about yourself and tag 10 bloggers. [1] My great-paternal-grandfather lent Truett Cathy money to start a little endeavor. [2] That endeavor is Chick-fil-A! [3] My great-maternal-grandmother is on IMDB. [4] Also on IMDB, my sophomore college roommate. [5] My dream car: a Wagoneer circa 1984. [6] Summers at Camp Lurecrest are my favorite past time. [7] I want to go back to Lake Lure this summer! [8] In January, I will be a certified mediator and [9] I will be married! Woohoo!!! [10] I recently made a furry purchase (opppsy ... sorry Ale!). I am sharing this sugar with Life in Fun Size, Life in the Bass Lane, Lola's Journey To and From, Such a Loverly Life, Tripping Down the Aisle, Love Being a Nonny, The Luckiest Mrs., Good Gal Inc., Chic & Pink, and Blooming in the Garden State. Happy Friday the 13th!

Happy Friday the 13th to you and yours! In my family, we happen to like Friday the 13th. On Friday, November 13th, 1998, I skipped school due to the flu-bug. Then the call we had been waiting for CAME! I missed the festivities, but my parents said they drove faster than race-car-drivers to the hospital where my oldest sissy gave birth to a beautiful-blonde-hair-blue-eyed boy. Cheers to the 11-year-old beautiful-blonde-hair-blue-eyed birthday boy: Friday the 13th is YOUR DAY! Enjoy!!! Xoxo-BLC

Happy Veterans Day to you and yours!! Today I am respectfully honoring and remembering the service our military veterans have generously given to our great country. A special thanks to my paternal grandfather, maternal grandfather, Paparazzi, and soon to be father-in-law for their military commitment and service. To all veterans, your sacrifice does not go unnoticed nor will we ever forget your bravery. Attend a ceremony, parade, or say a prayer to celebrate our veterans! Xoxo-BLC

Where in the world is Ale? On ESPN. In that sea of orange rushing the field post-Tiger victory. Do you see him??? Hint hint: he is the one wearing orange. Xoxo-BLC

Clean Closet

Inspired by Pretty in Pink Megan's Online Yardsale, Nautical by Nature's From My Closet to Yours, Sweet Tea Diary's Blog Sale, and Monograms and Manicures, I joined the club and launched The Clothes She Kept!!! I am a shopaholic, clothes horse, and brand snob. I have a tinsy-winsy-bit of trouble getting rid of clothing. This is my attempt to find unworn clothing a happy home! I hope you swing by and shop. Chic-onomics

My undergraduate degree should have been in chic-onomics, not economics. Why? We two lovebirds have a cyclical discussion like this:
Me (chicon fan): "Look at what I just purchased for 50% off."
Him (econ fan): "You should open a bank account for the 50% you just saved." Grrrrrr.
Well, I am putting my econ degree to good use and opening a Carrie Bradshaw Account. Ale can sneak a peek at my savings account anytime he wants: it's hanging in my closet. :) Xoxo-BLC

Merci Beacoup

Eons ago, my sweet college roommate gifted me this book: On A Personal Note. From thank yous to congratulations to business appropriate wording, this book has been the most useful resource for handwritten notes. After the engagement hanger party and bridal shower, thank you notes were in order allll the way around --- from hosts to guests to gift-givers. I might have developed early onset arthritis from handwriting 82 thank you notes, but it was well worth it!!! I used all of my formal and fun stationary; is this an excuse to buy more!? I think so! A big cheers to snail mail! Xoxo-BLC

Run Girl, Run!

I am so proud of my dear college chum, Maggie Mayd! MM just collided two of her favorite worlds: art and running. She painted this magnificent piece for Girls on the Run, an organization that uses running to promote self-respect and healthy lifestyles for girls. She is selling this painting and all of the proceeds go to GOTR! Many thanks MM for using your gifts for a greater good. Xoxo-BLC

PS: If you are interested in the painting and/or knowing more about GOTR, contact MM at MusgraveMaggie@yahoo.com. :)

Confesssions of Sugaraholic

Beantown Prepster tricked the socks off of me by sending a sweet surprise present!!! She is so thoughtful: I missed her Spooky Sugar Swap, but she included me anyways. These sweet treats included delish cookies, candy corn, tons of chocolate, and fall flavored hand gel, lip shine, and candle! If it doesn't taste good ... it smells good!!! Many many many thanks to the wonderful Beantown Prepster for the lovely treats (from me and my sweettooth)!!! Xoxo-BLC
