The Runaway Birthday Boy

We recently cleaned out my grandmother's storage unit and found oooldes of funnies, such as this. On May 31, 1970, my Uncle Sam turned 9 years old. The next day, he ran away from home leaving behind this precious note:
Apparently turning 9 years old was just too much!!! Ha! Don't fret: he returned home safe and sound without FBI or police involvement. And my grandparents really are the nicest people ever. Today is my Uncle Sam's 50th birthday --- I am wishing him the BEST birthday!!! And please don't runaway tomorrow!!! We want to celebrate YOU all week!!! Chin chin to priceless family funnies. Go Fish

Mary Phillips once said: "Give a man a fish and he eats for a day ...
... teach him to fish and you get rid of him for an entire weekend."
My husband (above) and father-in-law (below, left) know how to fish
and they have been doing just that since last Wednesday.
My mother-in-law and I are enjoying our Memorial Day weekends doing girly things
and the boys are in charge of dindin ALL week. Go fish!!! <><
Ale had a blast fishing with his dad in Apalachicola, Florida while I soaked up the sun
at a girls-only-lake weekend. Chin chin to looong weekends!!! Xoxo-BLC

Smooth Sale-ing

Memorial Day weekend is fiiinally here!!! Holidays that require us to pause, be thankful, and come together are just more fun. It's a great excuse to soak up the sun, relax, and appreciate our freedom. That has me smiling ear to ear!!! Oh, and it also a weekend of sales. My favorite word: SALE!!! I love sale-ing, don't you!?! It's such a fun sport. Devon Baer is one of my favorite designers and she is hosting a sale this weekend!!!
In the pictures above, I am wearing Devon Baer's "Emma Necklace." Isn't it lovely!?! The peacock is such a statement piece and we all know that a pearl necklace always wins my .  I am surprised with how many items in my wardrobe beckon to be worn with this necklace, like the vintage Lilly shift!!! Shop Devon Baer's entire collection and enter "SUNSHINE" for 15% off any item all Memorial Day weekend. Wishing you and yours a safe, happy, grateful, and smooth sale-ing weekend!!! Xoxo-BLC

A Pearl Girl

I have always been a pearl girl. Big, small, necklaces, earrings, bracelets ... I love every shape and size.
Sure, I love diamonds too!!! But a strand of pearls is sure tough to beat.
I think pearls go especially well with tube socks and pigtails, don't you!?!
That is moi, a mini-BLC avec pearls!!! Xoxo-BLC

Up for Grabs

Did you miss Princess Beatrice's fascinator on Ebay!?! Oh the shame!!! It was such a ... errr lovely piece.
Well, here is your chance to flirt with lady luck again to win celebrity ...
My favorite: it's a bag and photograph both signed by the fabulous Janie!!! And, it's for a good cause: proceeds support children in America via DoSomething.org. Traveling in style never looked sooo good!!!
Happy bidding to you and yours. Xoxo-BLC

O!

After 25 ah-mazing years, The Oprah Show ends today … gasp!!! We can thank Mattie for 5 extra years ...
I agree with Mattie 100%. Isn't their friendship just precious!?! Mattie, his mother, his whole story, all of it is beyond touching, like so many of her guests. I admire and respect Oprah a ton. She does LOADS and LOADS of good. I may not always be on the same page as Oprah, but I have always found her most entertaining. I have a teeny weeny confession: when I was a senior at Clemson, I planned my entire class schedule around Oprah. It’s true!!! Haha!!! I haven’t been as faithful in recent years, I wouldn't dare miss her farewell show. The last 25 years have been ah-mazing and I am certain the next 25 will be too. Wishing Oprah those bright colors and rejuvenation just as Mattie wished her many moons ago!!! Xoxo-BLC

Scandal!!! It's in the print ...

If you've been a Lilly-love for decades, you will be familiar with ... the STREAKER print!!!What a scandal!?!?! And what a riot is more like it. Lilly does the buff well ... wouldn't you agree!?!
Everyone needs to exercise their wild hair now and again, right!? Well Lilly did just that this season with their skinny dippin print. Scandal hits again!!! The censored tushes are too funny ...
I ordered a pair of shorts in this print and I promise to keep them on. Plus, I don't skinny dip ... I chunk dunk. Ewww!!! Haha! I hope this prints yield a good laugh for you too. Xoxo-BLC

PS: These aren't the first cheecks to grace TCSK ... :)

Where is the bunny slope!?!

"Ready???" Well, don't I look ready ...
On my fourth try, I popped up for a whole minute. Ha! Where is the bunny slope!?!?!?
Our first lake weekend of 2011 was such fun. Cheers to soaking up the sun!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: I do know how to ski (click to see Exhibit 1).
PSS: Ever since I watched Jaws, I really hate bobbing in the lake all alone. I fear the lake sharks. Ha! :)

Wedding and Cake at the Lake

Two of our college chums married today with the lake as their backdrop. Isn't it gorgie!?!
We sure thought so. We thoroughly enjoyed it all: from seeing old friends
to dancing up a storm to, of course, wedding cake!!!
This is our last wedding until Fall "wedding season" starts. Cheers to the newlyweds love,
laughter, and happily ever after!!! We think two Tigers are better as one. :) Xoxo-BLC

Hang'n Out With One Fang

This past week, I have been at the coast with mi familia. Brutus, my granddad's bullie,
taught me to hang out with one fang out:
Isn't he precious!?! We sure think so and Joeytella is jellllllly. Joeytella liked Brutus more when he was this size (click here) awwweeeee!!! They still played cat and mouse just like before. Cheers to puppy love and loads of family time at the coast!!! I miss mi familia and Bru already. Xoxo-BLC

Rain or Shine

My love for Clemson is infinite: I received a wonderful education,
made ah-mazing lifelong friends, and it's where I met my husband. Oh and this too:
How could you not love Clemson too!? Come rain or shine, it's always a good time with Clemson.
Gooo Tigers!!! Xoxo-BLC

Island Hoping in Greece

I keep pinching myself. Did graduation really happen!?! If so, those I-missed-a-law-school-final nightmares can cease and desist. Hehe: legalese funnie!!! And, now I am STILL pinching myself ... I didn't expect to be showered with graduation pressies ... and I certain didn't expect this one:
A trip to GREECE!!! I can hardly stand it!!! Pinch, pinch, pinch. Is it October yet!?!
Mamatella and I are going to Athens, Chania, Samaria Gorge, Rethymnon, Eleftherna, Knossos, Santorini, and Oia. Have you been!? You must dish. It's all Greek to me!!! I am BEYOND excited!!! Cheers or as the Greek say: ευθυμίες!!! Xoxo-BLC

Juris Doctors

We did it!!! My law school besties and I are law school graduates. Wow!!! I blame Elle Woods for getting me into this mess. "What like Harvard law school is hard!?" Going to law school was one of the toughest leaps I have ever made. And I am beyond glad I did!!! It has been everything I hoped and so much more. I couldn't have done it without my then boyfriend (now husband) and Grandad who always pushed me to follow my dreams. From the LSAT to all those applications, they were pulling for me from day one. My parents, sissies, family, and friends jumped on board and ALL supported me. At law school, I met two best friends. We logged loads of law library hours and saw each other through thick and thin. I must also thank M&Ms, diet coke, and coffee for the much needed caffeine fixes; Wikipedia and Google for helping me through the on-the-fly socratic method (cough, cough International Shoe); LexisNexis and Westlaw for those nifty case summaries; and I really could keep going and going and going.  I, of course, missed my stepdad today. He would be so proud. It made even more conscious to count my blessings and I was so blessed to have my mom, dad, stepmadre, one sissy, both my in-laws, and my husband with me to celebrate law school graduation. It's been quite the rollercoaster ride ... and I hear the rollercoaster is just getting started!!! Cheers to chasing dreams!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: Happy Friday the 13th!!! I hope it's super spooooookie. I ♥ Friday the 13th because ...

Gone to Fiji ...

I finished law school this week (gasp, eeek, omgoodness) and as such, I decided a little trip to Fiji was in order. Try not to be too jelly!!! Excuse me while I soak up the sun, plant my feet in the sand, and sip umbrella covered cocktails while listening to the waves crash the shoreline ...
... oh wait: I have to graduate!? Fiiine. I demand wearing an all-black robe to pout about postponing my Fiji trip. For now, wearing Essie's "Fiji" nail polish will have to do!!! In the meantime, excuse my little mini-hiatus: I only have one week to summer until August. Chin chin to a little more parrot-dise in life!!! Xoxo-BLC

I ♥ Sheridan French

If you read this little blog or follow me on Twitter, you well know by now that I absolute adore Sheridan French's entire collection. It was love at first-online-sight and the lovefest continues. I literally wear my Neve dress every chance I can find. It's comfy like a shift dress, yet oh-so-chic is just beckons for a whirl around town.
Since Sheridan herself channels Rachel Zoe on her website and blog, pairing the perfect outfits for every occasion. I just had to play copycat, so here goes: Sheridan French Neve dress in Sugared Sunset, Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf, Kendra Scott rose quartz earrings, loads of assorted bangles, Lilly Pulitzer gold flips, and, of course, the perfect accessory: Joeytella!!! I wore my hair up because the dress has the most precious keyhole back. The dress is cropped just so and is perfect on chilly nights with jeans too. Sheridan French's Neve dress has swiftly become a staple in my wardrobe. J'adore the Sheridan French collection and chin chin to wearing it well!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: Sheridan French has a super witty blog that you simply must peruse!!! I had to pinch myself recently as a reminder that I didn't actually go to Bali ... it just felt so real after reading of her recent travels. :)

AL the Elephant

As I previously shared, the horrible tornados in Alabama struck too close to home for me: my sister-in-law and cousin-in-law both attended the University of Alabama. So many people lost loved ones while the survivors lost all their material possessions. As such, I encourage you to join Elizabeth McKay:
Elizabeth McKay's goal is to raise $25,000.00. This darling top not only raises money for the University of Alabama's Acts of Kindness Fund, it also shows your support. This top is perfect with white jeans or under a suit. Its play and work appropriate --- the best of both worlds!!! So cheers to a good excuse to shop: one for you, one for mom, one for ... everyone!!! Xoxo-BLC

Happy Mother's Day!!!

"When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says." Proverbs 31:26
Today we celebrate the head chef, chauffeur, Dr. Mom, our biggest fan, and the Queen of Clean: MOM!!!
"Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace." Proverbs 3:17
Wishing Mamatella, Grams, my mother-in-law Galebo, my stepmadre, many aunts, you, and yours
a very, very Happy Mother's Day!!! Xoxo-BLC

The Birthday BASH

My oldest sissy turns 4-0 this week!!! She makes 40 look ah-mazzzing. Pictured below: Mamatella, a family friend, the birthday girl, and one of our very favorite guys. I ♥ you four!!!
The mamas threw her a BIG birthday bash this past weekend at the clubhouse. Lanterns and balloons littered the place with loads of color. All of her friends, from childhood until now, arrived and had a ball celebrating her. It was so much fun. I wish we could do it again ... and again ... and again!!! 40 cheers to the birthday girl!!! Xoxo-BLC

Happy National Day of Prayer!!!

It's the National Day of Prayer!!!
It's a time to
pause,
reflect,
be grateful,
and pray.
Every night,
for as long as I can remember,
I have prayed the same three prayers.
See left for all three. :)
Do pray the same prayers often too?
Today I especially pray for our country, our leaders, our troops, those sick, in need, or hurting, and to lead a life glorifying to God. I encourage you to join in and pray today too!!! Happy National Day of Prayer to you and yours. Xoxo-BLC

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I had to share the Skinny Girl Marg. Do you watch RHONYC? I do!!! Way back when, Bethenny rattled off her Skinny Girl Marg and I wrote down the concoction. Sure you can now buy it in stores, but in a pinch, here is the recipe!!! The first time I ordered a Skinny Girl Marg was in Miami and the waitress kept checking on me to make sure I still had a pulse. Ha! Tis super duper strong. Isn't that the whole point of skinny: you can have just one!!! I hope you gather with your amigos, eat too many tortilla chips, wear a sombrero, and enjoy being in good company. Happy Cinco de Mayo to you and yours. Xoxo-BLC

Hello Summertime!!!

While the weather plays catch-up,
Summertime is here in Lillyland!!!
Of course I always have a favorite frock.
My Spring favorite was my namesake.
My Summer favorite: the Delia Dress.
It's wedding appropriate, comfy, and just FUN!!!
And ... shhh: it's the Pink Palace favorite too.
I learned from Janie about 2011 Lilly themes: Resort = Literature, Spring = Art, Summer = Music, and Fall = Theater. Isn't that well balanced culture at it's finest!? So, do share: what is your favorite music!??!? Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffett, and James Taylor are my three summer-favorites. Cheers to dancing to the music donned our favorite frock!!! Xoxo-BLC

One Is Silver ...

A familiar minnie-sing-along for you: "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver, the other is gold.
A circle is round, it has no end. That's how long, I will be your friend."
I ♥ these poufs!!! Above: Calypso St. Barth for Tar-jay. Below: Calypso St. Barth.
One is pleather, the other is leather. One is $59.99, the other is $2,920.00. One is sold out, the other is available. One is en route to my casa, the other is not (yet ... hehe). Cheers to making silver and gold friends!!! Xoxo-BLC

Flamingo Fancy

Ever since the oh-so-sweet Summery Judgment tweeted to me about flamingos ...
all I can think about is my oh-so-favorite PINK bird!!! J'adore the Lilly shift and the Kate Spade tote. Doesn't this darrrrling outfit practically transport you to a tropical escape!? Flamingo fancy is surely to take us all to paradise (even if it just parrot-dise)!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: Speaking of paradise, one of my favorite travel-destination-Lilly-shops is having a mini-sale to celebrate you-know-who getting hacked off. Shop the Pink Boulevard for 25% off all red, white, and blue!!!
PSS: Today, more than ever, I am BEYOND proud to be an American. The price of freedom is not cheap. Godspeed to our troops, September 11th victims, and all their families. We hold you all in our ♥s.

Trunk Show

Open that trunk and let's have a peek:
I adore Devon Baer Designs and am uber jelly if you get to shop her trunk this week.
Cheers to trunk show shopping!!! Xoxo-BLC

Sip, Shop, & Share

If you are a Lilly-lover or a cancer-hater, then you simply must attend this event!!!  This Wednesday, the Lilly Pulitzer storefront in Ardmore is donating10% Baby Julia who suffers from brain cancer. You walked with me last October when my stepfather was diagnosed with cancer and through his passing in December. From family, friends, and even those of you I do not know, your countless comments, emails, tweets, and so forth help carried me through such a difficult time. As such, if you cannot shop in-store or over the phone, I urge you to write on Julia's CaringBridge Guestbook. My family poured over those comments, some made us laugh, some made us cry, but all touched our heart. I know Julia's mom, dad, and big sissy Isabella would greatly appreciate your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. And of course, isn't this a great excuse to shop up a storm!? Details: you can shop 24 hours before the event and all through event. There will be quite a bit of PINK sips and savories and giveaways too. Cheers to Julia kicking cancer!!! Xoxo-BLC

Rabbit, Rabbit!!!

Rabbit, rabbit!!!

As you well know by now, Robert Lynd stirred up a little superstition when he wrote "Solomon In All His Glory," ... it goes a little like this:

"'Why,' the man in the brown hat laughed at him, 'I thought everybody knew 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.' If you say 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit'--three times, just like that--first thing in the morning on the first of the month, even before you say your prayers, you'll get a present before the end of the month."

So at the beginning of each and every month, I wish you a little "rabbit, rabbit." This month is super exciting in TCSKland: my oldest sissy turns the big 4-0, my SIL graduates from grad school, I graduate from law school, a great friend will say "I do," the best flowers of the year bloom, and oh so much more!!! Happy May to you and yours. Xoxo-BLC
