Update: Here Kitty, Kitty

Well, guess what!? I found it!!! The devil herself, eBay, had it for sale, brand new and all. Of course I scooped it up immediately. It arrived as described, in mint condition. My wardrobe sighed with relief and I am smiling ear to ear. Mark my words: stay away washing machine!!! Xoxo-BLC

The Fairytale Wedding

Imagine we have traveled to England and you are reading this post in a British accent while sipping  tea and eating a crumphet. I told you early on that I would be up in the wee hours of the morning to watch the wedding, just as my mum did many moons ago. It was absolutely ah-mazing!!! It was 100% worth it and then some.
I thought the now Duchess of Cambridge looked simply smashing!!! Her dress choice was impeccable. A lace dress always wins my ♥. Beantown Prep BBMed me to say, and I quote, "Her dress reminds me of YOURS!" Well isn't that nicest compliment EVER!??? Have a look for yourself here and here and here and here and here.
All the fascinators and hats were a hoot!!! We must bring that tradition stateside. My favorite quote of all came from the Bishop of London: "Every wedding is a royal wedding for we are subjects of the King of creation." May the prince and princess ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after!!! Xoxo-BLC

Swap Soiree

My sweet friend Recipes from Newlyweds and I recently hosted a Clothing Swap Soiree. Never have I ever done one of these parties and I must say, shopping my friend's closets was BEYOND fun!!! It was the perfect way to weed out those unworn clothes and send them to a happy home. We simply must do every single season!!!
As you must know, Alabama was hit rather hard with wild storms this week. My sister-in-law and cousin-in-law both attended the University of Alabama and each summer I have clerked alongside their law students, so this hits close to home for me. As such, Anna and I asked for our attendees to dig even deeper into their closets and bring more items just to donate to those in need. All un-swapped items were also donated. I cleaned out TCSK II and she's en route to T-town. I encourage you too to donate or volunteer and, of course, PRAY for all impacted by these storms. Godspeed to you and yours!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: Shop the Pink Pelican in Huntsville, Alabama (online, in-store, or via tellie) and 10% of those proceeds go directly to tornado victims. :)

Prowl & Growl

For months we have been looking forward to the Clemson Prowl & Growl event.
Coaches travel all around and talk about past seasons, upcoming seasons, expectations, and other exciting news.
Pictured: Football Coach Dabo Swinney, a Clemson chum, Basketball Coach Brad Brownell, and moi.
This event was sooo much fun and I am beyond exciting about the upcoming football season.
Clemson cheers to you and yours!!! Gooo Tigers!!! Xoxo-BLC

Zoo-ific

I ♥ the zoo!!! A dear friend just opened a new exhibit and I had to see it for myself.
I visited right before close and snapped these pictures with my Blackberry.
I played hide'n'seek with this zebra. Shhh! He doesn't know we can see him.
I tip-toed around the lions ... I didn't want to disturb their cat nap!!!
What's the weather like up there fellas?
Good ol' fashion monkeying around!!!
These PINK ladies are my favorite!!! I hope you enjoyed these snaps as much as me.
Chin chin to the new exhibit ... it's zoo-ific!!! Xoxo-BLC

Wog It Out

I just adore Paige Smith's work.
She is beyond talented.
And has a d-r-e-a-m job!!!
This illustration reads:
"The trouble with jogging is
the ice falls out of your glass."
Isn't that the truth!!!
That is why I prefer wogging.
You know, a cross between:
walking
and
jogging.
Wogging is more ...
ice friendly,
conversational,
sweat resistant,
and just plain fun.
I sure hope my thighs agree!!!
Do you wog too!??

3L-itis

I currently suffer from 3L-itis. You know, it's senioritis, but for third-year law students.
My symptoms: extreme apathy, frequent abandon of studies, and being highly allergic to the law library.
It's rather tragic. The cure: few days of eating way too many M&Ms, soaking up lots of sunshine poolside, sipping pink cocktails, and shopping up a storm. Phew!!! My GPA and I truly look forward to jumping this hurdle. Wish me loads of luck!!! Xoxo-BLC

Hoppy Easter!!!

Happy Easter to you and yours!!! We enjoyed such a lovely Easter Sunday.
Ale, friends, and I attended Sunday School and a worship service at our church.
Afterwards, Recipes From Newlyweds had us all over for brunch. Oh la la was it delish!!!
Anna is a great host and cook. Fingers crossed she posts a recipe or two from today. :)
Jesus said in John 11:25: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live,
even though they die." Jesus is alive and let us rejoice!!! Xoxo-BLC

Happy Good Friday!!!

Wishing you and yours a Gooood Friday! John 3: 16 (NIV) reads, "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." May today start your Easter weekend off on the right hoppity-hop! Xoxo-BLC

Happy Early Earth Day!!!

Greeting Earthlings!!! Earth Day is tomorrow, but it's URGENT that we celebrate early.
According to Mary Phillips, go green or else: no more wine. Gasp!!! Wouldn't that be awful??
So, I adopted LP's motto: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Some of my favorite green tips: free the lint bunnies, curtail junk mail, reuse everything, and carry a water bottle. So please share: what you are doing to make this a greener Earth? Cheers to a better and greener tomorrow. Happy Earth Day to you and yours!!! Xoxo-BLC

A Wild Hunt

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my!!! Remember last year when I had my grocery shopping privileges revoked??? Well, my privileges have been restored so let the wild hunt begin!!! And I promise to be less greedy ... :)
Just like last year, Lilly Pulitzer teamed up with Barnum's Animals to make those oh-so-delish animal crackers. But this year is different: you can track all those wild lions, tigers, and bears here. My hunt will begin on Sunday ... when Lent ends!!! Off into the wild we go. Happy hunting to you and yours!!! Xoxo-BLC

PS: If you follow me on twitter, you know we hosted a mini-soiree this past weekend before a big bash at the zoo. I served regular and frosted animal crackers, among other things. Fitting, right!?

Pouf Daddy

The decorating bug is giving me a major itch for a Moroccan Pouf. It's the most timeless, chic, and functional footstool. And tush approved too!!! The endless colors match the endless pouf possibilities.
I picture a pouf at the end of my favorite pink chair as a footstool, one or two at the end of bed for a pop of color, and a pair under the coffee table for when we need extra seating. The pouf mac daddies are: John Derian, Jonathan Alder, and Nate Berkus. I also adore Casa Bella (pictured). Rumor has it Calypso for Target has a pouf line too. Fingers crossed!!! Hurry up May 1st. Xoxo-BLC

PS: Pouf ... it wasn't me. I made a funnie. Haha!!! :)

Happy Palm (Tree) Sunday!!!

It's Palm Sunday!!! My childhood church always passed out BIG palms on this day. I cannot spy a palm tree without thinking of Palm Sunday. In John 12:12-14, it says:

"The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna!" "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Blessed is the King of Isreal!" Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: "Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey's colt."" (NIV)

Palm Sunday is special to me because I was first saved by His grace on this date many many many moons ago. I am wishing you a very special day and hosanna!!! Xoxo-BLC

The Royal Wedding March

You've seen the original and The Office spoofed it, so surely the royal wedding will follow suit:
Too funny!!! The Queen and Camilla are carbon-copies. If I picked my mobile service based on commercials, bye-bye Verizon, hellooo T-Mobile!!! Xoxo-BLC

Lilly Palooza

Lilly. Pulitzer. Warehouse. Sale. You had me at Lilly!!!
Mark your calendars for June 9th-11th. More details here. I had the best time this past Spring and highly recommend all Lilly Lovers make the trip. It is sooo much fun being in a massive room surrounded by loads of Lilly and in the company of other Lilly Lovers. So, are you tickled pink to be going??? If so, make me green with envy!!! Xoxo-BLC

Suit Yourself

I prefer swimsuits to powersuits. Alas, as my 3L comes to screaching halt, this is my last summer of swimsuits. Barbri at the beach - duh!!! Then it's all powersuits 9-5, 5 days a week. Yves Saint Laurent first put women in suits. Booo!!! Ick!!! Ugh!!! Thankfully Coco Chanel femanized the powersuit. I prefer the like of Jackie O and Elle Woods. As I get ready for my big-girl job, so must my wardrobe. I am on a mission to hunt down frocks, skirts, and feminie, cropped jackets. Lilly Pulitzer makes the one pictured and it has this blurb: "Set a SHINING example of: Chicness. Style for sure. Usually pretty pulled together. Hmmm. Pretty. This jacket will help you send all the right messages." Well that suits me just perfect!!! Do share: where do you suit shop? Xoxo-BLC

Hats Off

I am 100% fascinated with these British fascinators. I am hoping my favorite Brit-to-be,
Beantown Prep, will dive into this trend and send me loads of fascinators. Hint, hint!!!
I think the Brits are onto something: tres chic, formal, and the perfect pop of color. These floppy hats we Americans wear to horse races are not hug-friendly or hair-friendly. Ladies, hats off and fascinators on!!! Xoxo-BLC

Spotted: Gossip Girl & Lilly Pulitzer

I miss Gossip Girl.

And buying Lilly Pulitzer.

Oh look: newbie Rania Thorpe wearing Lilly.

Is it April 18th yet or April 24th???

Cheers to the return of Gossip Girl ...

and Lilly shopping.

JL + LP = ♥

The New York City Junior League recently hosted an event at Lilly Pulitzer's Madison Avenue storefront.
I am one lucky duck: one of my best friends, a Clemson chum, attended!!!
She snapped so many pictures, I almost feel as though I was there. It look like quite a fete
and I just had to share it with you too!!! This is one of the BEST Lilly storefronts.
After a pink punch or two, she shopped up a storm. It's decided: we must have little girls
so we can dress them head to toe in Lilly!!! :) How cute is that minnie-suit???
We joined our respective leagues at the same time and it has been so much fun taking this leap together. Junior Leaguers volunteer together and give back to their communities in a tremendous way. Many thanks to my bestie for taking us with you and cheers to shopping for a great cause!!! Xoxo-BLC

The Duchess Bride

My sissy-in-law made an absolutely stunning bride!!! She married a Duke so she is officially at Duchess. :)
She was beyond beautiful and her day was sooo much fun. We ate brunch at the country club,
primped until pictures, strutted down the aisle, and danced the night away.
We sprinkled them in rose petals, blew goodbye kisses, and wished them a lifetime of happiness. She's now an MRS. and a Duchess. Cheers to their love, laughter, and happily ever after!!! Xoxo-BLC

Let's Rehearse

Tonight was my sissy-in-law's rehearsal dinner!!!
I simply cannot believe it has arrived: she's getting m-a-r-r-i-e-d tomorrow. Woohoo!!!
The rehearsal went seamless and the dindin afterwards was magnificent. Family and friends toasted the soon-to-be newlyweds. My favorite toast: negotiate your shopping budget before you say "I do" tomorrow. So true!!! Let's rehearse: unlimited shopping budget, unlimited shopping budget, unlimited shopping budget. Ha! Chin chin to the happy duo. Xoxo-BLC

J'Adore Sheridan French

My dear friend Summer is a Verb first alerted me to the extraordinary Sheridan French. My immediate comment to Alice: "LOVE at first sight!!!" Then, while enjoying my diurnally sugar via Daily Candy, I fell in love all over again with Sheridan French's chic namesake line. It's chic, effortless, gorgeous, and just flat out fabulous.
I also adore that this section on her website called "How I Wore It." Sheridan channels Rachel Zoe putting together outfits for every occasion. I just had to have one of her stunning frocks. When it arrived, I put it on immediately with just what I was wearing: gold flips, pearl earrings, and a long gold necklace. I literally walked right out the door to a Junior League meeting. The dress is effortlessly chic just on its own and the perfect compliment for a gussied-up night on the town. Perfection!!! I'll show you how I wear it next. Xoxo-BLC

Lilly Then, Lilly Now

Below is one of my all-time favorite pictures of Lilly and Peter Pulitzer. It's such a chic moment.
So you can imagine my delight, when dear friend CJM of Murphy's (New) Law spoofed the above picture and added a modern day twist: private planes are circa 1960s, but Lillyfied Jeeps are sooo now!!!
Just precious!!! CJM looks just like Lilly, doesn't she!?? She could definitely pass for a Pulitzer. :)
Both pictures are timeless, classic, and full of fun just like CJM (and Lilly's line too). Chin chin!!! Xoxo-BLC

Be There or Be Square

This weekend, I confessed that I like twitter more than blogging. GASP!!! That might have been a minor overstatement, but both blogging and tweeting are highly entertaining. To prove my point that I love both equally: I am blogging about a Twitter Party. Pour yourself a little pink bubbly and join this fun:
The oh-so talented Janie of Lilly Pulitzer will be chatting with the Shopafrolic girls and giving away all nine items above. Oh la la! I can hardly wait. I met Janie here and here and I have previously professed my love for Shopafrolic here and here. Won't you join in the fun!? Pink bubbly, Lilly Pulitzer, Shopafrolic, Twitter ... done, done, done. Count me in!!! Be there tonight at 9PM on Twitter or be square!!! Xoxo-BLC

If I were Kate ...

If I were Kate Middleton and planning an oh-so elegant wedding right about now, I would
want to glide down the aisle at Westminister Abbey in one of these gorgie Lilly Pulitzer gowns:

Of course either of the short frocks would be perfect for leaving the reception and
heading off to the honeymoon resort. If I were Kate, I would put my bridesmaids in this:

This gorgie Lilly Pulitzer frock has a princess seam, so the maids would surely feel like princesses too!!! I just adored my wedding gown and the bridesmaids dresses ... and it's still just as fun to pretend wedding planning post-nupitals as it was pre-nuptials. Cheers to the newlyweds love, laughter, and happily ever after!!! Xoxo-BLC

Crawfish Boil

Yesterday, we headed into the countryside to visit a friend's farm. It was such a gorgeous piece of property:
from the pond to the river to the trails to the farmhouse, it would take a week to explore it all!!!
We came to attend a crawfish boil and the "crawfish" were more like baby lobsters if you ask me.
I have never seen such BIG crawfish or sooo many.
There were buckets and buckets and buckets of crawfish. Mmm mmm mmm!!!
If you follow me on Twitter, you know it was BYOB: bring your own babysitter. Ha!
Our hosts were so sweet to Ale on his birthday: they even had him a birthday cake. It was his ideal way to spend a birthday: fishing, good food, and, of course, a fun day filled with great company. Xoxo-BLC

4.02.2011

Happy Birthday Ale!!!

Happy Birthday to my sweet husband!!! I loooooove you and wish you the very best birthday. It's going to be such a fun day filled with fishing at the farm then dindin at your favorite restaurant followed by a fun house party and, of course, lots and lots of cake. Cheers to your day!!! Xoxo-BLC

Rabbit, Rabbit ... and Happy April Fool's Day!!!

Rabbit, rabbit!!! Robert Lynd stirred up a little superstition when he wrote "Solomon In All His Glory" ... it goes a little like this:
"'Why,' the man in the brown hat laughed at him, 'I thought everybody knew 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.' If you say 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit'--
three times, just like that--first thing in the morning on the first of the month, even before you say your prayers, you'll get a present
before the end of the month."
Don't forget to say your rabbit, rabbit!!! Maybe it will ward off all thos silly pranks. Remember, as a rule of thumb, trust no one today. Those tricksters are out to get you ... or are YOU being the joker today?! My book of favorites include whoopee cushions, short sheeting beds, saran wrapping the toilie, or announcing pregger news on facebook. You know you want to play a little prankie prank. Be sure to dish if so, but pity the fools. Cheers to making funnies and have a very Happy April Fool's Day!!! Xoxo-BLC
