Downward Dog

You would think with all the yoga Mamatella does, that she would be a little more flexible ...
But that just wasn't the case!!! My Aunt Steffie (our family comedian) wrote this little poem about her spill:
I once knew this chick named Maw,
Who broke a tooth, both arms, and her jaw,
It happened on a jog,
With Joeytella her dog,
It's unbelievable but I swear it's the truth!
Her get-well note went on to say, "When I fall, I roll or bounce, but you skinny chicks break! So eat up and cushion those bones. I hope you feel better soon." Don't fret Aunt Steffie, I am feeding her strictly ice cream, puree donuts, and the like!!! Say a little prayer as Mamatella has jaw surgery today. Xoxo-BLC

The Mane Event

As a Clemson alum, Carolina Cup is one of my BEST college memories. It was a big to do: think delish fussy drinks under a large tent parked right in front of the horse race all while wearing large rimmed, floppy hats and Lilly sundresses. It was my favorite Spring social event!!!
This year, Lilly stores all over South Carolina are celebrating with specials and, of course, a t-shirt. It's not a college social event without a t-shirt, now is it!?!? Also, Lilly Pulitzer will have their very own tent.
Oh la la ... isn't that fun!?!?
Events like this make me miss college (until I remember studying for Econometrics). If you go, sport your favorite Lilly, have the time of your life, and only bet on the PINK horsies!!! Xoxo-BLC

Film Festival

Many thanks to Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore for tagging me in her "Five Favorite Flicks" post. I had such a tough time narrowing it down!!! I like sooo many movies, but each one has one commonality: a good story line. Without further ado, here are my most favorite movies:
3. Husband Approved: Traffic, Italian Job, and Crash
4. True Story: Fly Away Home
I know the rules were just to list my five favorite movies, but as Katharine Hepburn once said, "If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." I do refuse to break this game of tag, sooo I want to know what mooovies make my real-life friends favorite-list!!! I tag: Beantown Prepster, Bottomless Kitchen, Lola's Journey To and From, Loving Being a Nonny, Matt, Megan and Luke, Muffy MartiniRecipes from Newlyweds, and The Sweet Southern Life. All this movie talk has me craving popcorn!!! Pop, pop, pop. Xoxo-BLC

Amazing Lace

I think my true appreciation of fabrics comes from my mom and grandmother, both sewers.
One of my all time favorite fabrics: lace!!! It's elegant, chic, timeless, and sooo comfortable.
My favorite lace frocks this season include: Lilly Pulitzer's Lela Lace Shift, Milly's Metallic Lace Shift, Trina Turk's Foliage Dress, Ralph Lauren's Lace Sleath, J.Crew's Francesca Dress, and Monique Lhuillier's Bliss Lace Gown. Aren't these dresses made of such amazing lace!? Xoxo-BLC

GOOD Grief

Do you remember this SATC moment: everything in Charlotte's life is p-e-r-f-e-c-t in a scary, sky-will-fall-down-way??? She stops running and Carrie (and Harry) are worried about her. Last winter about this time, Ale and I talked about freezing time: our family and friends were happy, healthy, and content. Everything was perfect. This past August, I confessed over dindin to my childhood BFF that I could not enjoy how perfect our lives were out of fear something terrible would happen. She was my Carrie and told me to get a grip, to enjoy life in good times and in bad times. As you know, my sky did fall down: my stepdad was diagnosed with cancer in October and was promoted to heaven in December. While I miss him sooo much, I do not worry about him: I am certain of his salvation in Jesus which is the greatest gift he gave me and my family. I do regret all that worrying when in perfectland. Worry is wasteful and useless. As I grieve, I am learning to worry less, enjoy more, always be thankful, and slow down to truly appreciate life. Even in the ups and downs. Please keep my family, especially Mamatella, in your prayers. She took quite a spill breaking her jaw and BOTH arms. But do not worry --- we definitely aren't!!! God is in control. We might look as though we are in the storm, but we are enjoying the sunshine and counting our blessings. Xoxo-BLC

JL + Lilly = ♥

Two of my favorite things: the Junior League and Lilly Pulitzer!!! And a tied together with a murfee:
I joined the Junior League because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than me, something that could do more than just me, and something that created a greater legacy than me. I thoroughly enjoy giving back to my community and making an impact through the Junior League. I believe that Lilly is bright, colorful, and happy. Wearing Lilly while serving through the Junior League definitely puts more smiles on more faces!!! I think this scarf is the perfect match. Junior Leaguers and Lilly Lovers will definitely wear it well. I plan to, don't you!?!?!? Xoxo-BLC

PS: Happy President's Day!!! Don't you think this would make the perfect President's Day gift. :)

It wouldn't be a proper getaway without doting on the bride-to-be inn style!!!
We enjoyed a lovely lunch and shower at Mansion.
Above, a family photo-op: me, bride/SIL, and two CILs (cousin-in-laws).
Every room was impeccably decorated and chic as can be ... just like our bride-to-be!!!
Tres sad to leave Savannah, but this means we are one day closer to her strut down the aisle. :)
Chin chin to her happily ever after!!! Xoxo-BLC

Frock On

J'adore this Spring!!! The clothes it's bringing and the warm weather. One of my favorite designers, Jules Reid just launched her Spring and Summer 2011 lines. And it is divine!!!
Her style is where vintage meets bold meets bohemian meets effortlessly chic. My favorites include: the Beatrice Mini, the Nancy, the Harrison, and, of course, the Flowing Kimono. Each of Jules Reid's lines have been whimsical and nothing short of FUN!!! I  these clothes, especially the frocks. Rock on Jules Reid, rock on!!! Xoxo-BLC

Love knows no boundaries. Happy Eve of Valentine's Day!!! Xoxo-BLC

Think Pink

From the think tank at the Pink Palace, here is my idea of the perrrfect Valentine's Day outfit:
Charmed bracelet, Jillie dress, and hugs-and-kisses scarf. An excuse to dress head-to-toe in PINK ...
I'll take it, I'll take it, I'll take it!!! Will you be festive and sport PINK too!?!?! Xoxo-BLC

Both of them are such kids at heart. We looove our little minnie with all our ♥!!! Family impromptus are such funnn. Looking forward to our next family get-together, whether planned or unplanned. Xoxo-BLC

Pink, My Power Color

Style gurus everywhere agree: this is the year of pantone PINK!!!
Who What Wear says it well:
I think Lilly Pulitzer does pink best, and she has me beat:
I've only been painting the town pink since 1984. :)
As my power color and my favorite color, looong live PINK!!!
Do you adore pink too!? Xoxo-BLC

Night at the Museum

Our standing Thursday night plans took us to a cocktail party at the museum!!!
The museum was all glammed up and they served us pink champagne. Oh la la.
We cheated on our girls-only night and met the boys for dindin afterwards.
Such a fun night out and about!!! Xoxo-BLC

Mi Casa Es Tu Casa

Fine, fine, fine: I will stop planning my second wedding and start n-e-s-t-i-n-g!!! Yes, I have the decorating bug like no other. And I heard a little rumor the Lilly Pulitzer ventured into the home accents business ...
... but lo and behold: the rumor is more than true and includes furniture too!!! Woohoooo!!! As far as I am concerned, mi casa es tu Lilly's casa. So let the decorating begin!!! I'm thinking a whole room of blush and bashful (or pink and pink will do). Where do you find your casa-decor-inspiration!? Off to hunt nesting tips from Elle Decor!!! Xoxo-BLC

Hello wedding fever round two!!! From the gorgie lace gowns to the flirty cropped shifts, I just adore the entire collection. Pink and green perfection done WHITE!!! Sniff Sniff

I adore perfume. It's a total guilty pleasure because I "save" it for special occasions. I love looking at my collection every day. It's on top of my dresser displayed on my grandmother's silver tray (I know my mom is horrified at its unpolished condition. Must polish soon!!!). Her silver tray is extra special because the first initial of her maiden name is the same as my married name. How fitting!? Sniff sniff!!! Xoxo-BLC

Rabbit, Rabbit

Rabbit, rabbit!!!
Robert Lynd stirred up a little superstition when he wrote "Solomon In All His Glory,"...  it goes  a little like this,

"'Why,' the man in the brown hat laughed at him, 'I thought everybody knew 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit.' If you say 'Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit'--three times, just like that--first thing in the morning on the first of the month, even before you say your prayers, you'll get a present before the end of the month."

So at the beginning of each month,

I am going to start saying a little "rabbit, rabbit."
Wishing you and yours a

very rabbit, rabbit month
filled with lots and lots of PINK, sweets, and joy!!!
Xoxo-BLC

High Five

The wonderful Muffy Martini graciously tagged me to play a little game of five-things-I-cannot-leave-home-without. Well this was a toughie!!! Without further ado, here it is:
I cannot leave home without my purse, planner, temptress (the piiink Blackberry), jewels, or a sip of agua. I usually tote a purse the size of a suitcase, but I am in a fit over this darrrling pink clutch. My planner has the day's to-do, but also contacts, notes, etc. The temptress lives with me always. My jewels are my engagement ring, wedding band, and bracelets from Grandad. My agua of choice: La Croix and, of course, dressed in a koozie just makes it taste better! If it were "high-six," make-up definitely would have been involved. Muffy, this was SOOO much fun. Many thanks for the tag!!! To continue the fun, I tag: Lola's Journey To and From, The Sweet Southern Life, Such a Loverly Life, Medical Prepster, and Cardigans and Clogs. High-five to you and yours!!! Xoxo-BLC
